3 Culturally Sensitive Care


The resource is an article that explains the important of both cultural and sensitive competent among care-workers. It shows typical situations where competent and sensibility are involved and push learner to consider more in depth their job and the quality of their relations with patients. It is unrealistic to expect nurses to have in-depth knowledge of all cultures, but it is possible to obtain a broad understanding of how culture can affect beliefs and behaviors.

4 Cultural awareness assessment tool


Because the ability to provide culturally competent care is especially important for care-worker, who function in high-acuity, high-stress healthcare environments. Care nurses must develop cultural competency to be effective in establishing rapport with patients, and to accurately assess, develop, and implement nursing interventions designed to meet patients’ needs. Thus, it is important to testify the self-cultural awareness. More specifically, the resource is a questionnaire  that can be used to assess a person’s level of cultural. It consists of 17 items ranged 3 (always) – 1 (never). There are three level of awareness: 1)High degree of cultural awareness, 2)Average degree of cultural awareness, 3)Low degree of cultural awareness.

Image, JPG English Participants should be able to do a self-assessment of the acquired knowledge on cultural awareness. They can use a structured questionnaire in order to get a score about their own learning process.
